For one thing, whether you are traveling by car, plane, train, or bus, try to do so either early in the day or late in the day, when airports, depots, and roads tend to be less congested.
Package deals can often be your best friend during holiday travel. They are especially helpful during peak dates.
The internet is also your friend during peak dates. Booking online whenever possible can save you a lot of time and frustration.
When driving, make sure you get gas the night before you leave. Heck, even do this the night before you have to be at the airport.
